Workshop/ Teaching
"Education is not the learning of facts,
but the training of the mind to think" -Albert Einstein-
My philosophy of teaching is grounded by a personal goal to be a lifelong learner, consistently improving and evolving my knowledge through student mentorship, acting as a guide while also being a good listener, and promoting a motivation. I have learned multicultural differences through the extensive travel. Experiencing diverse perspectives and traditions from Asia, Australia, Europe, and USA have contributed to my flexibility and creativity. This is one of my major strength.
I focuse on encouraging students to become better makers and thinkers. I do this by mentoring their abilities in craft and process, and guiding them throughout the identification and pursuit of their motivations as artists. I believe my heart and intuition. It is important to learn the art techniques from the classroom but more importantly, art should be connected to other academic disciplines.
With interdisciplinary studies and collaboration between teachers, students can explore the concept of a cohesive community interweaving the arts with any other elements such as history, people, industry, etc. Teaching inspires and energizes me, and I like to devote my time to working with students and helping them to develop, express, and exchange their ideas.
