Through the Wearables for Good Challenge, UNICEF, ARM and frog set out to demonstrate how wearable and sensor technology can be used to solve some of the most pressing challenges facing children. We wanted to ask the question: Could this technology be the next mobile revolution? And better yet, could it save lives?

SMalker is a self-powered electronic health control shoes to protect people from malaria. SMalker is smart, reliable and programmable. Firstly, it functions as an eco repellent that stops mosquitoes from attacking the human skin. Secondly, it is a rapid diagnostic tool that is inexpensive and easy to use. Thirdly, it allows people to get prompt treatments by connecting them with their local health center. Lastly, it can be a smart health monitoring system with mobile phone surveillance applications to prevent malaria transmission and also collect data.
